On May 22nd, the Irish people will be asked to vote Yes or No in the Marriage Equality Referendum. This referendum seeks to insert a new sentence into the Constitution: “Marriage may be contracted in accordance with law by two persons without distinction as to their sex”. This will give Irish people the right to marry whoever they love, regardless of gender.
At CASTLE33, we’re in full support of a Yes vote, and are proud to be part of the Business for Yes Equality initiative. However, we didn’t want to stop there. We wanted to help spread the word more and lend our expertise to the movement. So with that, we’re happy to announce our latest project in conjunction with YesEquality: #12DaysOfYes
#12DaysOfYes is a social media campaign in support of a Yes vote in the Marriage Equality Referendum. The campaign aims to create awareness and exposure for a Yes vote through creative content such as photography, graphic design and video.
The idea for #12DaysOfYes is simple – on each of the 12 days leading up to the referendum vote day (beginning May 10th), individuals and businesses are encouraged to post a piece of visual content across their social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.). These posts should represent why they are voting Yes, the passion behind their decision and their interpretation of how they believe a Yes vote will make an impact on their lives in the future.
The content that people post is entirely up to them. It could be a photo of their loved one, a video of them reading a poem or simply the word Yes. All they have to do is post something new every day during the campaign, and use the hashtag #12DaysOfYes when they do.
Anyone can get involved. You don’t have to be a professional artist or design company. Grab a pen and paper, take out your smartphone camera or use something from the YesEquality.ie website. The more people taking part, the better. Ultimately it’s about creating awareness and spreading the word. So get creative and have some fun!
We’d love everyone to take part. So please share this post with your friends and family, and starting May 10th, login to your accounts and start sharing the love too. Every bit of support helps!
